The War on Drugs, Lost in the Dream
A fan-favorite album from one of Philadelphia’s best bands of the past two decades. Lost in the Dream was recorded at a handful studios, both in the area here (Jeff Zeigler’s Uniform Recording studio, for instance) and around the country. Lots of our long time friends or associates worked on it in some capacity. We are nonetheless very proud of the role our studio had in the formation of this record, and The War on Drugs “sound” in general - all of which are best represented on Lost in the Dream.
Stand-out thoughts on this record: The recordings made here were typically engineered by Jonathan Low, back when he was a regular figure at Miner Street, working primarily as Brian McTear’s assistant engineer. Most drum recordings featured Patrick Berkery, including “Red Eyes”, one of the coolest Drugs songs ever. Shortly after the recording was released in 2014, Brian recorded separate podcast interviews for his nonprofit Weathervane Music with Adam Granduciel and David Hartley about their approaches to music, recording, life, etc. Both are great insights into what was going on in the minds of a band that was about to become hugely successful.
